To restore the cluster database on a local node

1. XOX

The Backup or Restore Wizard starts by default, unless it is disabled.

2. Click Advanced Mode on the Backup or Restore Wizard.
3. Click the Restore and Manage Media tab, and then in Click to select the check box for any drive, folder, or file that you want to restore, click the box next to System State.
4. Click Start Restore.

   This will stop the Cluster service on the local node and restore the cluster configuration (the cluster registry file ClusDB located in the systemroot\cluster subdirectory) for that node.

5. Reboot the node when prompted.

   Rebooting the operating system replaces the cluster configuration file currently in use with the restored copy.

6. Verify that the Cluster service restarted on the local node.

Important

• If the signature of the quorum disk has changed since you last backed up, instead of restoring the System State only, use Automated System Recovery in the Backup or Restore Wizard to restore the quorum disk signature along with the System State.

• If you do not have a backup set available, you can manually restore the cluster database on the local node by copying the systemroot\cluster\CLUSDB file from another node. If the copy operation fails, follow the troubleshooting steps in General administrative problems.

• You must be an administrator or a backup operator to restore System State data. For more information on permissions or user rights, see Related Topics.
• XOX
• You can only restore the cluster quorum disk on a local node. You cannot restore the cluster quorum disk on a remote computer.
